Adamkiewics arteri (arteria radikülaris magna) en büyük ön segmentel arterdir. Genellikle aortanın T9-T12 arasındaki segmentlerinden, sol tarafından çıkan interkostal arterlerden köken alır. omuriliğin 2/3 alt kısmını besler ve yukarıdan gelen anterior spinal arterin uzantısı olarak devam eder.

Żerków'da doğmus bir Polonyalı patolog olan (11 Ağustos 1850 - 31 Ekim 1921) tarafından isimlendirilmiştir. Bunun dışında birçok farklı ismi de mavcuttur:
- Adamkiewics arteri
- Adamkiewics'in büyük radiküler arteri
- Major anterior meduller segmentel arter
- Lumbar genişlemenin arteri
- Büyük anterior radikülomedüller arter
- Büyük anterior segmental medüller arter
Yapısı
Spinal kordun arteryel beslenmesi oldukça karmaşık ve değişkendir. Bu konuda yapılmış bir çalışmada:
- Adakiewics arteri lumbal arterlerden de çıkabilmektedir.
- İnsanların % 30'unda sağ taraftan çıktığı görülmüştür.
- % 25 oranında insanlardan 2 adet anterior radikülomedüller arter çıktığı görülmüş.
İnsanların % 75'inde arter sol taraftan T8-L1 segmentleri arasından çıkmış.
Yapılan büyük bir literatür taramasında, manyetik rezonans görüntüleme ve Bilgisayarlı tomografi ile yapılmış görüntülemelerde 555 insanın 466'sında (% 83.96) arter izlenmiş olup bunların da 384'ünde (% 83.3) arterin sol taraftan çıktığı görülmüş.
Klinik önemi
Adamkiewics arteri lomber ve sakral bölgenin en önemli arteryel besleyicisidir.
Bu damarın tıkanması veya hasarlanması durumunda ortaya çıkar. Bu durumda idrar ve gayta kontrolu ve motor fonksiyonlar kaybolurken, duyu fonksiyonları bir noktaya kadar korunur.
Abdominal aort cerrahisi planlanan hastalarda arterin konumu belirlemek oldukça önemlidir.Hemoptizi nedeniyle bornşial arterlere yapılan endovasküler işlemlerde Adamkiewics arterinin tıkanması ciddi bir komplikasyondur.
