Yaşamı
Bosworth 29 Aralık 1928'de Sheffield, Güney Yorkshire'da doğdu. Babası Clifford Bosworth, 'nda çalışmadan önce 'nda katipti. Annesinin adı Gladys Constance Gregory idi. Orta Doğu çalışmaları alanında yüksek lisans ve Edinburgh Üniversitesi'nden doktora dereceleri almadan önce, Oxford Üniversitesi'nden modern tarih alanında Bachelor of Arts lisans derecesini aldı.
Edinburgh Üniversitesi'ne gitmeden önce 'nda çalıştı. Burada Annettee Ellen Todd ile tanıştı ve 19 Eylül 1957'de onunla evlendi. Çiftin üç kız çocuğu oldu.
Saint Andrews Üniversitesi, Manchester Üniversitesi ve Princeton Üniversitesi Beşeri Bilimler Merkezi'nde görevlerde bulundu. 2004'ten ölümüne kadar Exeter Üniversitesi'nde misafir öğretim üyesiydi. 28 Şubat 2015'te Yeovil, Somerset'de öldü.

Bosworth, akademik dergilerde ve karma ciltlerde yüzlerce makalenin yazarıydı.
