Charophyta; charophytes olarak da adlandırılan bir tatlı su yeşil alg grubudur. Bazen bir bölüm olarak ele alınır ancak aynı zamanda bir süper bölüm veya sıralanmamış bir klad olarak da gösterilmektedir. Karasal bitkiler Charophyta'dan, muhtemelen karasal tek hücreli charophyte'lerdenkardeş grup olarak Zygnematophyceae sınıfıyla birlikte ortaya çıktı.
Artık kladistik olarak yerleştirilmiş Embryophyta ve Streptophyta ile eşanlamlıdır. Charophytes'in kardeş grubu Chlorophyta'dır.
