Arka plan
Konishi Yukinaga komutasındaki 18.700 adam taşıyan 400 nakliyeden oluşan Japon işgal kuvveti, 13 Nisan'da (Gregoryen: 23 Mayıs) Tsushima Adası'ndan yola çıkarak herhangi bir olay olmadan Busan limanına ulaştı ve Japonlar ertesi sabah 04.00'den itibaren çıkarma operasyonlarına başladı.
Japon kuvvetlerinin komutanları Konishi, Sō Yoshitoshi, , Arima Harunobu, Ōmura Yoshiaki ve Gotō Mototsugu idi ve bunların tümü (Matsura hariç), adamlarının çoğu gibi Kirishitanlar idi. Sō Yoshitoshi, Busan'a saldırırken, Konishi, Busan'ın birkaç kilometre güneybatısında, Nantong Nehri'nin ağzında bulunan Dadaejin kalesine karşı daha küçük bir kuvvete liderlik etti.
Muharebe
Konishi Yukinaga'nın ilk saldırısı Yun Heungsin tarafından püskürtüldü. İkinci saldırı, Japon kuvvetlerinin bambu merdivenler kullanarak duvarları tırmanmadan önce, ateş altında hendeği taş ve kereste ile doldurduğu gece geldi. Tüm garnizon katledildi.
Sonrası
Ertesi gün, Konishi ve Sō güçlerini yeniden birleştirdiler ve ardından Seul'e giden ana yolun on kilometre kuzeydoğusunda bulunan Dongnae kalesine doğru ilerlediler.
