Metrolojide ölçüm belirsizliği, ölçülen bir niceliğe atfedilen değerlerin istatistiksel dağılımının ifadesidir. Tüm ölçümler belirsizliğe tabidir ve bir ölçüm sonucu yalnızca standart sapma gibi bir belirsizliğin gösterilmesiyle tamamlanır. Uluslararası anlaşmaya göre, bu belirsizliğin olasılıksal bir temeli vardır ve söz konusu değerin eksik bilgisini yansıtır. Negatif olmayan, pozitif bir parametredir.
