Yaşamı

1979'da eşi 'u aşırı dozda insülin vererek öldürmeye teşebbüs ve tıbbi yardım sağlamamakla komaya girerek yaşamını bu şekilde sürdürmesine sebebiyetle suçlandı. Claus von Bülow 'un ilk davada mahkûmiyet alması beklenirken görülen ikinci davada suçlu bulunmayarak aklanmıştır.

Aynı davada, 1980 yılında insülin aşırı dozuyla eşini öldürme teşebbüsü nedeniyle, hayatının geri kalan süresinde kalıcı bitkisel yaşam durumunda bıraktığı için mahkûm edildi, ancak ilk yargılamadaki mahkûmiyeti geri çekilerek ikinci duruşmasında beraat etmiştir.

Claus von Bülow aynı zamanda iş adamı J. Paul Getty'nin arkadaşı ve kişisel asistanıydı. Eşi yıllarca koma halinde yaşadıktan sonra 2008 yılında ölmüştür.
