Bilinçli farkındalık, kişinin dikkatini şimdiki zamanda yargılamadan kaçınarak meydana gelen deneyimlere bilinçli olarak getirme şeklinde gelişen psikolojik sürecidir. Klinik çalışmalar, farklı hasta kategorilerinin yanı sıra sağlıklı yetişkinlerde ve çocuklarda bilinçli farkındalığın hem fiziksel hem de zihinsel sağlık yararlarını belgelemiştir. Araştırma çalışmaları sürekli olarak özellik bilinçli farkındalığı ile psikolojik sağlık arasında pozitif bir ilişki olduğunu göstermiştir. Bilinçli farkındalık uygulamasının, psikiyatrik bozuklukları olan insanlara terapötik yararlar sağladığı görülmektedirPsikoz hastalarına da orta seviyede faydası olduğu görülmüştür. Çalışmalar ayrıca ruminasyon ve endişenin çeşitli zihinsel bozuklukların başlangıcına katkıda bulunduğunu, ve bilinçli farkındalık temelli müdahalelerin hem ruminasyonu hem de endişeyi önemli ölçüde azalttığını göstermektedir. Ayrıca, bilinçli farkındalık uygulaması, akıl sağlığı sorunlarının gelişimini durdurmak için önleyici bir strateji olabilir.

Bilinçli farkındalık meditasyonunu geliştirmek için tasarlanmış, rehberli meditasyonlardan yararlanan çeşitli alıştırmalar bulunmaktadır.
- Bir yöntem, bir sandalyede veya yere ya da bir yastığa bağdaş kurarak oturmak, gözlerini kapatmak ve dikkati burun deliklerinden nefes alıp verme hissine ya da nefes alıp verirken karın hareketlerine dikkat etmektir.
